How to Apply


Thank you so much for your interest in our school! Every year, Smith Street Maternelle welcomes more than 150 students across three Brooklyn sites. The admissions process typically begins in September of the year prior to the child’s entry in our school. Applications for the 2025–26 preschool (TPS-MS) and Kindergarten (GS) programs are now open with a December 16 deadline. We will also accept applications on a rolling basis thereafter.

STEP 1:
INQUIRE & VISIT

There’s nothing we love more than introducing families to our community and the learning experiences at Smith Street Maternelle. To begin the conversation, simply complete the form below and register for an information session and site visit.

STEP 2:
APPLY ONLINE

You will be asked to create an account and password so that you can login to your student’s application checklist. Within the online application system you can then follow these 6 steps.

  1. Complete the online application form.

  2. Choose how to pay the $100 Application fee.

  3. Upload a student photo.

  4. Complete the parent questionnaire.

  5. Applicants to grades MS (PreK) and GS (K) must request a confidential report to their student’s current school. 

  6. Schedule a child’s playdate in January 2025

STEP 3:
ACCEPTANCE NOTIFICATIONS

Please note that the admissions process varies depending on the age of your child. Regular admissions notifications are sent by email according to ISAAGNY admissions dates. Rolling admissions decisions are sent as soon as possible after the application and supplemental steps, like the Child Playdate, are complete.

STEP 4:
FINALIZE ENROLLMENT

Once accepted at Smith Street, families must return their electronically completed, signed enrollment agreements along with a $5,000 non-refundable deposit within a week of receiving their acceptance letter. If you do not receive a spot, your application will be included in our rolling admissions cycle by default.


NOTE: 
Families are welcome to apply after the initial deadlines. Your application will automatically be included in our rolling admissions cycle for any open seats. As in years past, we welcomed many students off of our waitlist this school year, and we anticipate doing so again next year.
